I have been thinking about altering the "mdtome" structure. Previously, I have been using filenames to embed "sequence", "sub-tome" tree type, URL, and title for navigation. Today, I have tried to use CSV files in each "subtree" to represent that information, and I found my previous design was indeed quite helpful. The "navigation title" helped me to avoid having multiple files sharing the same filename. It's just that my previous approach of using a semicolon to separate that information is a bit weird. I guess changing that into "-" might make filenames look a little bit better.

On the way to my afternoon lectures, I was waiting at a traffic-light-less crossroad. A driver saw me waiting for her to pass and laughed and waved to let me pass first. I waved back to say thank you and ran past the road. I'm grateful.

In the evening, after I picked up my order, the staff said to me, "Enjoy your meal." I usually follow a rule of "echo" in this kind of situation to show my respect, but, in that "edge" case, I couldn't echo "enjoy your meal" back. So I think I nodded back. I hope I didn't miss the etiquette too badly.

I have tried to use stew meat to make "Mongolian Beef", but it seems the meat is a little bit too thick. I noticed that and tried to use scissors to cut it a little bit thinner in the pot. The meal tasted fine, and I hope that was safe.

In the afternoon, I tried to use my cast-iron skillet to cook the steak and use the ChefIq cooker to cook the Dojin mushroom sauce. At this time, I bought whole baby bella mushrooms. It's quite interesting to think about how to cut them evenly to the same shape. Learning from my previous purchase of the baby bella mushroom slices, cutting them vertically should be fine, but I tried to cut them from the "center" to make them all in the same shape. I think the meal tasted pretty good.

Before cooking the steak, I tested the stove top a bit, trying to set it to a power similar to the ChefIq cooker: rising to 210 degrees Fahrenheit in 5 minutes. The resulting steak tasted similar, and I'm grateful for that.

Today is the first day of the new semester. I recalled a thought that I have been wanting to record: "Recording is actually for forgetting."

In the evening, I picked up a bread key ring on the road and posted a "Found" post on university Reddit in hope of finding the person who lost it.

I tried to cook the Dojin Mustard Steak for the second time. This time, I bought enough mushrooms and shallots. The first try was also quite successful, even though the sauce was a little bit bitter. I guess that was caused by not using enough mushrooms and overcooking them for a little bit. I think that might also be caused by pre-preparing the heavy cream too early, leading to water evaporating too much. Indeed, this batch of sauce looked whiter. I have also adjusted the sequence of combining steak and sauce, and poured the sauce first this time. It looked pretty good. I'm grateful.

Today's Leetcode daily problem was about a binary search for floating-point numbers. Compared to integer binary search, extra care is needed for the precision in floating-point number binary search.

Monday, January 5th

One special thing for today was that I carefully read the recycling handout of Urbana. I have learned a lot of things, for example, which types of plastics can be recycled.

Sunday, January 4th

The main thing for today is to clean up my room and living room, recycling plastic boxes and packages.
